After months of planning, preparation and anticipation, we headed off on the 6th August 2011. Annual Leave, Long Service Leave and Retirement arrangements have been put in place. The trailers were prepared to suit the task. That meant fitting brakes on the Thommo's camper and a tent rack on ours. The bikes were serviced, fitted with new tyres and polished in preparation for the 8 week ride.
The ride wasn't to be a true circuit of Australia as the primary plan was to spend as much time as possible in Western Australia.
Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, Tasmania and the Northern Territory have previously been done at different times and the Northern Territory and northern South Australia are on the menu for another visit in 2014.

During the trip, this page was used to keep everyone interested and up to date with how we were going and where we were. Family, friends and new friends from around the world followed us on our journey and enjoyed it with us. Many contacted us at various times during the journey. At one stage, when there was no internet available, I could not upload the daily update. By the time we had internet access the next night, we had emails waiting, concerned that something had happened to us.
